Terms of Service

— short version: be decent, verify ingredients, and we’ll take good care of your table

These terms govern your use of the Aly app and website (“Aly”, “the service”). By creating an account or using Aly you agree to them. Questions: [email protected].

1. The service, and its beta status

Aly helps households decide what to eat and keeps a shared memory of preferences, meals, and related facts. Aly is currently in beta: features may change, break, or disappear, and data created during the beta may occasionally need to be reset. We’ll warn you before anything destructive if we possibly can.

2. Your account and your household

  • You must be at least 13 years old to have an account.
  • You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Pairing with a partner creates a shared household: content either of you adds to the household is visible to both. Unpairing stops future sharing, but each of you keeps what was already shared with you.
  • Add information about other people (including children) only if you’re entitled to share it.

3. Aly Plus subscriptions

Deciding dinner is free. Aly Plus is a paid subscription (about $39 per year per household) purchased through the Apple App Store. It renews automatically unless you cancel in your App Store settings at least 24 hours before the period ends; Apple’s standard billing and refund rules apply. One Plus subscription covers the paired household.

4. The allergy disclaimer that actually matters

Aly works hard to remember allergies and restrictions and to filter suggestions accordingly — but it is software, recipes vary, kitchens vary, and restaurants vary. Always verify ingredients yourself where allergies or medical dietary needs are involved. Aly’s suggestions and health features are informational only and are not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t abuse the service: no attempting to access other households’ data, no reverse-engineering our systems to extract models or data, no using Aly to harass anyone (including your partner), and no illegal content. We can suspend accounts that do these things.

6. Your content

What you tell Aly stays yours. You give us the limited license needed to store it, process it (including with AI providers, as described in the Privacy Policy), and show it to your household. We don’t use your content to train our own models, and we never sell it.

7. Our content

Aly’s software, design, name, and content are ours and protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app.

8. Warranties and liability

Aly is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Ending things

You can delete your account in the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (4, 6–8, 10) survive termination.

10. Miscellany

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stands. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Aly. We may update them as the product grows; material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
